What is the human brain but a complex learning machine. That being said since the AI isnt a conscious being observing and learning then doing of its own free will, rather its designed to take in others work and spit our new work, for profit, then the artists whos work contributed should be compensated since their work is being used for others to profit who arent doing the art themselves.
AI is coming along quickly and data protections have not caught up, they need to before the AI starts doing things we dont want it to, for instance outing a gay person is a homophobic country, or a whistle blower, or someone in whitness protection.
