There has never been a technology in history that destroyed more jobs than were eventually created in other areas. The problem is that we can't foresee what those new jobs will be because no one has a crystal ball. So people think with any new major technological rollout that "This time it is different!". People have been saying this for CENTURIES. History proves that people who are predicting massive unemployment from AI are DEAD WRONG. It's not going to happen. There will be transitory unemployment as jobs are eliminated, but AI will create other jobs that people currently can't predict. As this video deftly explains because the costs of certain products and services will go down demand for them will go up. Some will be goods and services that once never even existed. In the long run unemployment will pretty much average out to a rate that is not out of the norm for the past decades or even centuries. You'll of course have economic downturns (recessions, depressions) just like you've always had. But you'll also have periods of massive job expansion (just like we've always had).
