Until recently, I was a commercial artist. My work wasn't phenomenal, but good enough to sell. AI happened and 70% of my income was lost within the space of 2 years.
Sure - some artists or those few at the top of the food chain will continue to sell. Most won't if buyer decisions are based solely on result. Eg. Art bought from stores without the artist being involved in its presentation. Or digital art commissions.
I agree - that I also find value in real art over AI, but many people only care about the final result OR are too busy being fooled by or consuming Ai to care.
Maybe things will change one day, but right now, a career in art is way harder than it has been in the last, say, 25 years.
