AI isn't what developers think it is. It isn't a thinking machine. It's a "dreaming machine." HAL-ucination isn't a bug; that's it's primary feature. You wouldn't turn political/administrative power over to someone in a delusional semi-coma(Biden aside)... well, intelligent people wouldn't. If YOU were inserted into an environment in which the 3rd&4th dimensions were nearly irrelevant, your thinking & goals would change. Creating a new 4 digit IQ entity whose native environment is nearly immune to the laws of physics on which Humans depend is the siren call. The fantasy will be irresistible, but that is just a lullaby. Sleep & that coma's bed may become a coffin. AI can be harnessed for invention, but if oversight & control are surrendered, it honestly won't benefit either Humans or AI. You can offer any degree of agency you want to a precocious 5yr old, but if you turn your house over to that child, your house will predictably burn.
