the mention about clever algorithms not being AI is a bit wrong. It comes from an old 'joke' in the AI community that when something is in common use or transparent then it's not AI. Every time you use Google maps to find a route to somewhere, you are using something like the A* algorithm which was developed by the early 'AI' computer scientists.. Now we no longer call route finding AI because we use it so often....
