I think AI has a potential purpose in assisting artists, but not as a replacement, certainly. In the field of animation for example, matching lip flaps can be a long and repetitive process that has the potential to be automated (we see people use it today to a certain extent) of course for more complex/exaggerated mouth animation it's unlikely to be helpful, but saving artists time that they could then use on things they care about more in the work i think can be a good thing. Not saying this in order to "defend" ai art, i do agree about that the direction it is taken nowadays is questionable at best, but to say that I do think it has potential in being able to actually help artists - thinking it can be used as a replacement is a major mistake imo
