I'm so tired of the 'everyone's better off than they were 250 years ago' trope as a reason why all change is good for everyone. Standards of living for all but the very wealthy having been falling for some time. Whether that's hospital waiting lists, public services, cost of buying your own home. Show me how AI will improve those things and someone who wants to use it to improve those things, and I'll show you a hundred people who want to use it to stop paying people to do a job.
