The “you didn’t put in enough hard work” argument is such a sad and weak one. You do not have to go through some long and arduous self-training program to become an artist. You can just set up a canvass in your garage and shoot it with a paintball gun. Ya-da! You are an artist.
Do it a bunch of times and take your art to a bunch of summer art-in-the-park events and you might just be able to make a living selling your art.
See? Amount of time invested “learning the trade” doesn’t apply to art. So implying it does by using the chef-vs-microwave meme does not apply.
