My 15 year nursing career over 4 states, two countries and multiple specialties makes me REALLY excited about AI replacing us "sickcare workers". I've seen daily omissions at the majority of (magnet hospital) institutions which has left me terrified and disgusted. Allopathic doctors not investigating for structural maladies (or even understanding them!) first prior to putting patients on psych meds for "trauma pain", doing things like putting meningitis patients in psych wards instead of ICU (leading to death) forgetting spinal stimulators on in the OR (leading to bilateral leg amputation), crashing ICU patients in ICU with intubating the obtunded patient with a 10cc propofol push, cardioverting patients for a malfunctioning pacemaker that was "missed on Xray", not treating ARDs patients appropriately....And the nurses who just follow....GOOD - hopefully the humans that are left to work with the sick are better trained to provide psychosocial support. Hopefully the narrow field of vision (Asperger's) that plagues healthcare - which results in mass amounts of physicians gaslighting patient's who suffer for years because of lack of knowledge and the capacity to say "I don't know" IS iatrogenic harm. When the differential diagnosis algorithms humans use do not reveal an obvious answer AI will be there to diagnose. Thank goodness!...and I highly doubt AI will have metformin and insulin for 1st line tx for DMII-because why treat when you can cure.
