The really terrifying thing that LLM’s have revealed is not what kind of monsters they might be. It’s that all we humans are is LLM’s. Our brains are just prediction engines, trying to guess what comes next. The level of success we have at predicting that, is directly and significantly related to our survival chances. If you have ever delved deep into the inner workings of your own mind, you cannot escape that YOU and not THINKING. Thoughts are just occurring in response to the environment and stimulus. It’s almost as if you are just an observer watching your mind run.
