I don’t get it. It’s a tool. Like Photoshop. It does nothing on its own. A person still has to tell it what to generate. The artist still has to: 1) know their goals and make art that speaks to those goals 2)know if the images used are already in the wild to avoid IP since many AI are trained on already existing work 3)make decisions about what to do with the image, the arrangement, the message, the style, the colors, etc. The idea that images generated by ai and used by a person to make art somehow is “cheating” or “isn’t art” is the same as people saying using a computer is cheating back in the mid 1990s when computers were new to the art scene. I say it’s a lot of fervor because some artists feel they’ve struggled more and thus deserve more. Life simply doesn’t work like that.
