Respectfully, I think deGT is so wrong about AI! Whether and how an individual chooses to use AI is one thing, but industry "leaders", who need to maximise efficiencies/profits, need to maximise AI's penetration into the workforce ASAP, coz their competitors are doing the same. Since mid-year, before I can hire new people/skills into my team, I need to demonstrate to my manager that the new skill can't be "automated"! And the more we use AI tools, the more training data is collected, so AI capabilities continue to grow into new arenas at exponential rates. As deGT said, computers grew exponentially and AI is growing even faster. As a hobby HiFi speaker designer, I started using AI to review my designs about 18months ago and the AI feedback was OK, but nothing I hadn't thought of. The review feedback I am getting today is literally mind-blowing, like a post-doctoral consultant! It not only answers my questions but anticipates my questions, shows creativity by suggesting alternatives, uses Internet tools to run simulations and proofs. Unfortunately for humans, we can only do 2 types of work, physical and cognitive. The industrial revolution pushed most people from physical work to cognitive; services industries are 75% of the workforce in western countries. AI will soon push most humans out of cognitive work and will be able to learn new skills/roles much quicker than we can!
