None of the bad actor use cases are new, they are just amplified along side all the other use cases by the lower cost of entry for artist and higher output. All this hate is misguided gatekeeping. Humans have been developing better TOOLS for generating artwork for millennia. Every radical disruption in art process has been met with the same backlash. Look at the rise of photography and digital art. Both advances were seen by established artists as an attack on their livelyhood, yet over time both have become accepted within the art community, and those who choose not to use those tools have focused on the styles that the tools struggle with like non-realistic and abstract expression. AI is simply a tool for a new generation of artists to use, and yes they are artists and to deny that is gatekeeping. Sure a lot of the output is terrible, but that shows that even with these tools there is still quite a lot of skill the artist brings and most artists using AI tools are still learning. Lower cost of entry is not a bad thing, it gives more people the ability to express themselves and explore the world of art. There aren't any more bad actors (proportionally) than there were before... There are just a lot more artists in general producing a much greater volume of art.
