When we moved from assembly to C, sure programming got a lot easier but the apps we built didn't stay the same, it got a lot more complex. We went from typing commands into a terminal to crunch numbers to simulating mini universes via video games for our entertainment. As the tools improve it doesn't just make things easier, it allows for more complexity. This applies to literally everything we do, sure, we built powertools to make building things easier but we are not still building straw huts anymore are we? We are using those tools to build skyscrapers, mega structures, freaking space shuttles, the likes which would be unfathomable by people that existed even a few 100 years ago. So why on earth would AI be any different?
There are no super smart elites that control the world, there are just a bunch of fat rich children that like big numbers and have the long term planning capabilities of an adult mayfly. So when they say they're gonna replace the work force they've no idea what the hell they're talking about.
