my feeling is that AI art is fundamentally too interesting to ignore (even if we could put the genie back in the bottle), so asking if it’s okay for it to pull from other people’s artwork is a moot question. It exists, and that’s how it works – as simple as that. Hopefully we collectively come up with ways to shield artists from the negative outcomes of this particular future, but I don’t see how it’s possible to steer away from it completely.
