And it didn't affect only young people that are entering the job market. I am IT pro and I worked for 40 years as a system analyst and coder, being half of this time for the same American family company that I worked remotely since 2005 to 2025. One year ago I started realizing the impact of AI in my area. Recently my boss "invited" me to quit my position because 80% of my development tasks can now be performed by himself by just typing prompts (he's a coder too) and the other 20% were assigned to a presencial employee. To keep the job I would have to get a drastic reduction in my daily hours, do tasks that really don't please me and pick a smaller wage. At almost 60 it didn't make any sense to me so I decided that quitting was the best way out. Long story short, I am now running a small home wood shop, literally meaning that I migrated from a white to a blue collar job.
