As a teenager, I had added one of my favorite artist's pieces to an inspiration folder on deviantart. He then made a public post saying "THIS ISN'T A COMPLIMENT! THIS IS ART STYLE THEFT!" despite having my own art style. He was way more popular than I've ever been and it made me feel so defeated. With AI being so popular now and slowly normalized (even my own father, who was previously a great artist, is now obsessed with AI image generation), I feel defeated all over again as an adult.
