At 50 min, the lady saying it's just a thing following a math formula, is totally lost. You can model the human brain with a math formula. So what. It's not the point. The point is that you have emergent behaviour that, by its very nature, is not predictable.
Look at an amoeba, you just put a bunch of them together to make a higher animal, but it's still just a bunch of ameoba, so what could possible go wrong?
