The narrative of unstoppable labor destruction by AI is also being peddled by corporations who are raising money, it's a story they can sell for funding. As ridiculous as it is this narrative appeals to the market, and the marketing story has to be teased apart from the reality. And frankly, the tech pod people I listen to are so underwhelmed by AIs real capacity, that I'm inclined to see it Scotts way. LLMs, which are essentially advanced auto fill, are far, far away from the promise of general intelligence.
