If you can take an autonomous taxi to the nearest train, then the train to get close to your destination, then an autonomous taxi to your destination, that could actually increase the use of public transit. Just has to be done right. Mainly, the train needs to be faster than a vehicle. If it's slower, there's no way I'm going to transfer to three different modes of transportation just to get to my destination later.
