This issue (what’s the point of college) is minimized by getting what many refer to as a “real” degree. Something that will teach you foundational knowledge for your industry, has solid employment opportunity now and in the future, and requires dedication to graduate with… usually something in STEM (in geological engineering personally). I’ve seen many friends and family graduate with their philosophy, art, game design, and creative writing majors and, unsurprisingly, struggle to find a job/work off student debt, but imo there’s a lack of foresight there. Maybe that’s harsh but oh well
also… good luck using AI when you’re solving 4-step solvent extraction problems in classes hydrometallurgy or pyrometallurgy… AI hasn’t yet got to the point of being able to answer highly specific industry questions like many of the ones in my later years of undergrad. This is ultimately bc the knowledge you’re learning is obscure enough that these models haven’t been able to train on it. I imagine this is not the case when it comes to many crayon eating majors tho. Okay being mean time over
