IF SOMEONE CAN GIVE ME SOME QUALITY THOUGHTS ON THIS I would apprecieate.
After watching like 3 hours of videos regarding AI art generation, as an art consumer that love and care about varius arists, my only quiestion is HOW can we support real artists if one can not longer tell the difference of what is what (AI or not).
I resently faved a picture in Deviant Art which was AI ganerated cus I liked the result and character being portrayed. But the account openly stated that it was fully AI generated.
I argue that I while looking for new art (that is looking out of the list of artists I already follow), I could like some AI content if it was displeyed as such, and not leveled as real art, cus at least the account is not lieing to me ...I was blocked by just saying that, eventhough Im just starting to know how I feel about it.
As much as I respect artists, as a consumer there are some things that I dont see adreseed anywhere and are the reason why I have deep bitter sweet feelings with AI.
Someone sayed to me: ""That's literally the problem. You could just learn to draw or commission a real artist to draw that stuff for you"
...well, for vaious reasons is often not the case. For instance, one could be with the water to the neck in debts, and simply cant affort a commission cus you dont have a dime to spare, and those extra dollars could pay for your next rent.
Also, for many great artists there are often long lineup lists for their work, more offten even, the artists have quite limited slots that can be ocupied very rapidly, so one could be waiting for ever to win a slot, and if not, you are left out with no chance to ever have that character you wish for that particular artist to make. (Ive missed more than a few chances myself) ...oh and there are those long periods of time where your favorite artists are not even taking commissions (like for meny months or even years) ...so what em I left with? Sure I could just learn to draw, but we know the time it takes to master those skills to a satisfactory result (hence the respect we have for great artists). But what if one is on survival mode, and trying to master other varius goales and habilities in life to get out of that situation?
There are only so meny hours in the day to invest your time in.
Now If you tell me you are ok with not ever haveing at least the chance of pictureing your favorite character somewhat the way you like it without all those life barriers I wont believe you. The reasonable battle should be centered around the loopholes and mechanisms this tools operate, and Im totally behind that.
So there can be varius reasons to explore TOOLS like AI...WITHOUT ever stop supporting your favorite artists EVER.
I would be quite thankful of any takes on this.
Thank you Sam for making this video. Really helpful.
