The reason AI keeps advancing is because the big studios like Disney and the like are funding research on it. For the exact purpose of using it to cut down time and costs of making animation (and CGI). It's been their dream to get rid of all the workers and creative people, just throw a bunch of committee notes into a machine and have it spit out a finished movie. This is how 3D animation (Pixar) was first pitched to them. And now AI is doing the same. But they're going to find out down the line that AI made films will become derivative WAY faster than the current movies already are. And there will be a resurgence in smaller animated projects that have thew unique qualities people want.
