I'm not too old yet, so I don't really know how the world works. But I think my ideas might still be of use; perhaps my ideas will spark others'.
First of all, AI is not human. And I don't think trying to make it more human is the right approach. However, we should be trying to make AI a tool for humanity. By developing AI in such a way that it resembles the way humans think/feel, but also keeping it non-human-centric, AI will become the most powerful tool at humanity's disposal.
Second, as a tool, AI should obviously help people. Yes, I know it's vague, but everyone most likely has an idea in their head of what "helping people" is.
Third, AI is inevitably going to replace jobs. It already has and will continue to do so. WHAT CAN WE DO for the people who won't and don't have jobs?
This leads into my fourth idea: what can we do better than AI? The answer: synthesize topics across disciplines to come up with new ideas. We can think. SO, what should we have people out of a job do? We should have them think. If you have read this far I would like to invite you to think. What would having millions of people thinking about policy, economics, human well-being do for us? Even if one in one thousand had an original thought every day, our growth as a civilization would grow exponentially.
Fifth, I challenge you to think about what the most important tool for enhancing your thinking is. In my opinion (after thinking about it myself for countless hours), the most important tool at our disposal is education.
Sixth, because education is necessary to become a great thinker, why should people who can't afford it have to think when it's likely that being uneducated would lead to poor ideas. Well, they shouldn't have to think in that case. In fact, our whole system guarantees it.
Seventh, so in the end, it is necessary for education to be public and free. HOWEVER, you might say that ideas are the driving force of capitalism. You'd be right. But considering that capitalism is a system that exceedingly less people are able to take advantage of, we should ask if it would really be better at this point. Capitalism has accelerated growth for hundreds of years, but now we have an opportunity for change. We have the opportunity for a system still fueled by ideas, but instead of for money, it's for human wellness.
Eighth, change is scary. But the only way to fight change is by changing yourself. I definitely have ideas, and I'm sure all of you do to. Let's change together, for the betterment of humanity, not just a select few.
Thanks for reading this far :) again, I'm only 17, so I don't know much about the world yet, but I appreciate you taking the time to consider my ideas.
