We have to die to find out if there is a "ghost in the machine."
Materialists would say no, therefore AI having a soul doesn't apply. It depends if you think there is Karma and Kismet. Sensitive 'souls' will appreciate that most. Karma is easier to spot on an individual basis if you do something mean.
Whether we carry Karma from previous lives is a moot point. Our brains aren't blank slates when we are born, are they?
