For me as a senior dev, using IDE-integrated AI was a significant showdown because it kept interrupting my flow with strange (and occasionally wrong) suggestions. I had to stop and evaluate all the time. It's like pair programming with a vocal backseat coder high on uppers. 😬 Also we already had robust non-AI tools and snippet libraries for boilerplate code, so that never even came into consideration. We also tried out Code Rabbit for pre-reviews but it generated so many false positives that we had to waste time explaining in comment responses! In the end we made it optional with a manual trigger and AFAIK nobody from the team has ever used it since. I think AI is best used as a smart search over knowledge bases and wikis. Or to generate and explain configuration files. It's pretty useless at coding.
