sigh, I'm so tired of the people in this space anthropomorphizing these things with intent and thought and 'behavior'. It's a souped up Eliza bot, with absolutely no context, remixing everything its every been fed and spitting out what its algorithms and nested feedback loops determine is the best answer. So, sometimes its output is *literally informed by lovecraftian monsters* because that is an increasingly large chunk of the cultural data it has ingested. Along with all the trolls on 4chan, and the bigots, and the confidently wrong redditers, and the wine moms.
There's no mask 'slipping', that would imply a desire and intent behind what it does. The mask is just *another layer* of correct prediction.
