When I was a teenager in the 1980’s, just like how they were totally opposed to the TV in the 1960’s, our grandparents generation were totally opposed to us kids learning anything about nor being allowed anywhere near the internet and mobile phones and for a long time, I never really understood why, as I had always embraced these technologies, even though our grandparents openly questioned why there was no limits (aside from costs) placed from the outset on who gets to access these devices without any licence systems in place, prompting many of my grandparents generation to take radical actions of their own to prevent access - over 40 years after our grandparents passing and in my 50’s now, we have seen the wrong kinds of online censorship creeping in from vested interests and yet the advances of AI are frankly terrifying, proving our grandparents instincts correct all along
