AI is not to blame. 30 years of dumb liberal policies starting with globalisation and social engineering has destroyed all the sectors of the US economy. It is merely at the point where the consequences of past stupidity is catching up to present day reality. Supposed "educated" people have not covered themselves in glory either, the internet has allowed them a public square and a rope to hang themselves with. The internet is littered with Ivy league grads who get basic concepts horrendously wrong...the latest were the tariffs. Employers see that and it diminishes the value of education. Lots of unethical Ivy leaguers have been recruited to lend their credibility to left wing propaganda, that too has not gone unnoticed, nevermind the litany of faked research and fraud scandals. To this add violent college protests and bottom line , a liberal education does not guarantee that you are hiring a competent, level headed and ethical individual, so where is the value in that for employers? You need to pay these people more to recruit a potential "activist landmine with rights" into your business!? Make that make sense.
