From a programming standpoint, I struggle to comprehend how you would create sentience. You're practically telling the computer to be conscious since that's what computers do. They follow preset instructions. Perhaps a more advanced AI will develop after we understand the human brain better, but I don't think you can 'tell' something how to be conscious.
