I've been programming since 2002. And here's the truth: as AI stands right now, it can't entirely replace programmers. However, it will evolve VERY quickly, and it will CERTAINLY replace programmers. The development of language understading by AI is a major breakthrough. From the moment AI can understand language and produce language output, then you just gave them a superpower (and no, i'm not talking about that "self will" bulshit or any of that, I'm talking about it's capabiities). Language learning by AI is as big as the first, second and third industrial/tech revolutions. ALL TECHNICAL jobs will be replaced, because automatizing jobs costs less than paying humans. It's capitalism's goal, profit. As simples as that.
You guys have no ideia what AI will be doing in 10 years. I strongly think it could be the end of humanity in a not far future (or at least a massive decline in it's population).
