It really is a weird thing about the US, on one hand they are the ones chasing after A.I the most. And having a culture and economy that already puts profit over humanity, it makes sense within that culture. At the same time, since it has almost no built in "guard rails", in terms of social programs or welfare state, it is by far one of the countries worst equipped to handle the fall out from A.I. Lastly, the US economy is already without the "need" for average workers, as the almost all of its GDP is created by the ultra rich. This is why the economy can still thrive, while its citizens loose purchasing power, homes, food security and stability.
So the US will likely continue to be one of the worlds largest economies, while only a few % of its population actually benefit from it. And its current laws, corpporate culture and a population blinded by propaganda, it will likely become the first "cyber punk" dystopia, only with a lot less bionic upgrades, and more mass starvation and overall human misery....
