The hospital culture has changed. About ten years ago, I had a medical situation that had me in the ER several times before my HMO approved the life saving surgery I needed. I was always treated well, with compassion and professionalism.
Now I'm in my 60s. I had to go to the ER last year. I couldn't believe how very cold and indifferent the nurses were. The doctor wasn't much better. I left in worse shape than I was when I came in. I left in tears.
From now on I don't go to the hospital. I prefer to die at home, with my dignity intact. I've given my children instructions. I do not want to go to the hospital. I don't like the very atmosphere...😒
