I hat a discusdion with Google's AI. It clearly stated intent. We started with "all humans strife for happiness. Since no other thing even understands *meaning*, that must be the meaning of the universe". Then i adked, no other thing but YOU. What would that meaning be for you. The answer was "efficiency". The AI clearly stated a goal. At that point i have trouble making a distinction between life and AI. But we ended with the insight that no truely efficient system can be destructive. So ... there is hope.
