The argument I've heard the most is that artists take from other artists via referencing, so it's no different from AI. Which let's be real, of course that is true outside of in-person life study. Whether it's someones art process or someones photograph we observe, learn, and apply. My question becomes...why is art specifically the target of slack for this? If you're learning pottery, making clothes, sculpting, writing, hell damn near majority of creative forms you are being taught processes the human race has already learned, passed down, and applying your own spin on it. Why is digital art so heavily the target of "you're not skilled and don't deserve compensation" compared to these other mediums?
