Also to be considered is the fact that AI art is not sustainable by itself, it needs new images to keep up with Art as a path. If everybody stopped producing images now, AI generated images would stale to the year 2023, thus rendering impossible any kind of artistic innovation.
To make an even easier example, imagine a hypothetical AI image creation model was released in the renaissance period and everybody just stopped drawing or painting to produce images with AI. We definitely wouldn't have had impressionism or expressionism, both as stylistic choices and movements for example. This is what i feel people still fail to grasp
