I think it’s way too early to be popping champagne bottles over this. AI might not replace developers but developers using AI will replace you if you aren’t learning how to use the tools. 2025 was a scary year where vibe coding became true reality. Claude code and AI CLI tools became a new industry standard. MCP servers are blowing up and agents are slowly gaining the ability to interact with nearly every surface you work with as developer. The power these tools is growing substantially. You will always require a dev to configure and run these tools but developer productivity is going to continue to sky rocket and the question is how long will it take until the job market reacts to this new normal where the supply vs demand for engineering jobs levels out again.
