Hello Solar Sands, I love your video essays, they are always thought provoking and well made, so I was elated to see you've made one specifically looking at this rise in AI art. I have been thinking about it a lot. I have a dear friend who is a professional artist working in VFX and she has become really into AI Art: understanding it, working with how it's made, experimenting with it. It really is amazing, and I wish I could enjoy it with her fully, but I feel very uncomfortable, uneasy, worried about the ethics of how the art is created. It's making me ruminate, and so I'm looking forward to hearing your take on this most confusing new development, because I really can't get my thoughts and feelings around this behemoth. In regards to Dance Diffusion not using any copyrighted material in their data sets, I can't help but think about Metallica v. Napster, Inc back in 2000. I remember seeing it on the news on tv, seeing some of Lars Ulrich's testimony being played. In this is purely fear of big money in the music industry and the big fame of a number of musicians. For visual arts I think, most are individuals, who aren't wealthy, and often not sufficiently of a level of fame that they could feasibly take a company to court. Great vid! I took notes to remember.
