I think AI will improve once it occurs to their developers to do the same thing the human brain does. Our whole brain doesn't work on every singer thing it does. Our brains have specialized areas that all work in concert. Basically, a group of specialized neural networks, with a master control network that queries the other networks, directing their actions, and using their answers to make decisions.
