I've worked with machine vision in the past for computer automation, it's a small part of such projects because the software should also be using the most efficient and reliable forms of data available for its task feedback.
Tesla is an abominable pyramid scheme, I cannot imagine how else they'd be worth a trillion dollars when they only use the visual spectrum in their non-functional, dangerous "autopilot" technology. Elmo's a con man not a car man.
