The thing that always gets brushed over in these debates is human greed and our need to dominate and exploit others. Humans have ALWAYS done this. We learn how to use simple tools, then some of us quickly realise we can also hit other humans with these tools, kill them and take their resources. Does anyone honestly think all the billions of dollars that are bring invested now are for the benefit of the whole of humanity, or simply lining the pockets of a handful of people at the top? THEN what do you think will be used to keep those millions of people suddenly thrown on the scrapheap in their place when they revolt against those on the next rung up on the ladder? They WILL use A.I and robotics to keep the so called dispossed and wretched of the world fighting each other and in their place. Anyone having a cursory look through human history can see this done again and again. These folks wearing rose tinted spectacles are either completely gullible or more worried about making sure they are going to get their needs looked after. Human greed has driven nearly every terrible thing done in history and they used the tools of the day to make sure their will is imposed on others - guns, advanced weapons, skewed education, racial, gender supremecy and propaganda. The world is in turmoil and our climate is in trouble - deny all you like, people who are experts in this field know the planet IS living on borrowed time if we dont change our wasteful and destructive ways - which judging by the head in the sand denial and pathetic efforts by our money obsessed corporations and ruling classes, is simply not going to happen. The people who REALLY run the world are going to make sure THEY are safe from each other and the rest of us will be left to fend for ourselves and kept away from them - and A.I and robotics will be a tool they use to ensure that. Wake up!
