26:44 - additionally, there are a few major flaws with this argument from proponents of AI: 1. There's a social contract amongst artists that it's ok to learn from one another. No single artist will ever be a financial threat to any other individual artist by copying them. If a beginner artist copies me, I understand that they're just at a certain point in their artistic journey, they'll learn what they want from my work, mix it with what they like from others work, add in their own tastes and quickly evolve to be a completely different artist from myself. 2. This argument is very similar to the "AI learns like a person does" argument. It puts forward the idea that because artists learn by copying, it must be ok for AI to do the same. But an AI isn't a person and it doesn't learn like a person. We shouldn't extend the same rights and courtesies to what is simply a product, not a person. 3. AI training isn't fair use because it directly competes with the creators of the training data. This is typically the largest deciding factor when it comes to fair use judgements, which are case-by-case.
