LLMs by design are fanfic generators. It is the resemblance of intelligence that is the misalignment, not the hallucinations. It only looks intelligent because the system prompt is "what follows is a fanfic about a super smart chatbot and a paying customer". The only thing it can create is parroted human nonsense that is only ever accidentally true.
