In my own case, it has intervened multiple times to help avoid collisions during moments when I was distracted, something that happens to every human driver at some point. The problem with many online discussions and videos criticizing this technology is that they tend to present only one side of the story, without balance or nuance. Some of the concerns raised are valid. Others ignore real-world data, lived experience, and the rapid pace of improvement. If you haven’t driven one of these vehicles extensively, it is difficult to fully appreciate how capable the system has become. For someone like me who drives roughly 35,000 miles a year, often in heavy traffic, this technology has been genuinely life-changing. It reduces fatigue, increases consistency, and in my view improves overall safety when used as intended. Do your own research. Try the technology yourself before forming a firm opinion. Be cautious about accepting simplified narratives. The reality is more complex than the headlines suggest.
