I think you might be misunderstanding the Luddite remarks. It's worth remembering where this term comes from. It originated from opposition to automated looms. Many textile workers lost their jobs after automated looms became good enough to replace human weavers. Weaving is both a technical skill and and art form, so the comparison to generative machine learning is a striking one. Many of the arguments eerily similar. Obviously the situation today is very different, but the comparison deserves a more nuanced discussion than simply being dismissed as "hating technology".
