I felt like I helped train AI back in the day with Mechanical Turk. There would be tasks that you could sign up to do and get paid where you had to identify objects in a photo, like a car or a plane or a horse by circling an outline around it. Some of that might have been used to help with the "Are you a robot" security on websites nowadays, but I get this feeling that it was also used to help train very very early AI models and this was back in like 2014 maybe earlier I was doing these tasks.
