Folks: ChatGPT and other LLMs are NOT MINDS. ChatGPT is software that seeks patterns in language, and we can use that capability for various tasks. But they do not have minds, they don't have identities. If it seems like they do, it's because their developers have added those features to make the tools easier for us to interact with. Anything that seems like a mind or a personality with an LLM is an illusion created as part of the user interface. Are they amazing and helpful? Yes, I think they can be. Are they a replacement for expertise? NO.
