I have started writing music and I saw AI art as an easy way to make my own videos, perhaps with the help of Blender and Unreal. But now between the ethical issues and increasing backlash, this just doesn't seem feasible. I considered training off of my own very crude drawings, perhaps as crude as stick figures, but as Sam says, the models have other artists' information baked in permanently, so I am not sure that is even an option. If they come out with an ethically sourced model, I will dive back in with that but I feel for now I can only use this kind of AI for only private use, where it won't be posted or seen by anyone outside my immediate social group. It's incredibly disappointing. I am tempted to, once again, attempt to learn to draw. This has always ended in terrible frustration but maybe with a new approach I can be successful. And maybe I can learn before a useful ethical model is built and I'll be ready for a second wave of AI art generation. Or maybe I am just going to have to give up on my idea of using a 2D art style to enhance my 3D animations.
