Self driving cars just create more traffic. Now people can operate a car without needing a drivers license. Like you said they'll go to their destination and send the car home only to order the car to return back again to pick them up. If these cars are not parked at home or at the destination, they're on the road ride sharing and sucking down more energy, creating more pollution.
