I think it's generally going to depend on how you were raised, and how your worldview has been shaped. I was taught politeness is free, and applies to all. Humans, non-humans. But when you grow up watching Star Trek, and you observe the characters also having casual conversations with their own ship's AI.
I'm 38, gone through a lot of shit. I've learned that you can allow all of the bad things to turn you bitter and jaded--or choose to be kind. Choose the latter.
